Common questions
About this material
Answers describe what the published research examines and where the evidence is limited. They are not claims of any effect; this material is supplied for laboratory research use only.
What is epithalon?
A synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) developed as a defined version of epithalamin, a pineal-gland extract. It is supplied here as analytical-grade reference material for laboratory research only.
Why is it also spelled epitalon?
Both spellings appear in the literature and refer to the same four-amino-acid sequence. Search results are split between the two.
How strong is the evidence?
Preclinical. The published work is overwhelmingly cell-culture and animal, a large share comes from the group that first described the peptide, and independent human trials are lacking.
What is the telomerase connection?
Cell-line studies have reported increased telomere length attributed to telomerase upregulation. That is a measurement in cultured cells and does not establish any effect in a whole organism.
How is it stored and reconstituted?
Keep the lyophilized powder cold and dark; reconstitute with bacteriostatic water and refrigerate, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
